Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park is set in the heart of the Bog of Allen in Rathangan, Co. Kildare and is an ideal venue for language students studying in Ireland. Our guided tour will give students a flavour of:
- Irish culture
- Irish heritage
- Ireland’s natural environment.
We have extensive exhibitions and replica dwellings from various periods in Irish history ranging from neolithic village, Irish mythology and folklore, early Christian times, famine house, hedge school and the County exhibition for the 1798 Rebellion. History truly comes to life with multimedia displays, lifelike figures and informative displays.
Lullymore HeritageNew to the Park is our biodiversity trail, we tell the story of Irish peatland’s past, present and future possibilities. The cutaway bogs around the Park which were harvested by Bord na Mona for energy since the 1940s are establishing as unique and welcoming habitats for a wide range of flora. The trail also goes through rejuvenating peat land and woodland areas of the Park and covers topics such as peat land formation, woodland ecology, native and introduced plants and animals, renewable energy and animal and plant identification.
We have found that the combination of Irish heritage and explorations into our natural environment are of great interest to students learning English in Ireland. Following the tour, students can spend some free time enjoying our extensive leisure areas. We have Train trips, Air Hockey and Fuzball tables, 18 Hole Crazy Golf and a large indoor play centre which is great fun for all ages. Our new “Funky Café” can accommodate up to 200 people and there are many picnic areas available. The average duration of the trip is 3-4 hours and Café is available for groups to order lunches. We pride ourselves on our customer care and can guarantee a warm welcome and a refreshingly informative, fun day for students in the Park.
